The Roller Coaster of Emotions Continues

Sorry I haven't updated you in a couple of days. Nicholas and Zachary really needed some quality time with us so that's been our focus since returning from Miami Wednesday evening. Easier said than done since Jameson takes so much time at this point of the game. N and Z are handling things so well and we strongly believe it's because of all your prayers. Thank you.

Bad news today. We noticed Monday that Jameson developed a bulge above his privates. We watched it closely all week. We met with Dr. Coffman, J's pediatrician, and learned the bulge is a bowel hernia and J needs to have surgery ASAP. Dr. Coffman will be calling us tomorrow to set up a meeting with the pediatric surgeon for Monday. Dr. Coffman is very concerned that the lower intestine will get stuck outside the tear and lose blood flow - then J will be in grave danger. They will have to incubate him which will cause blisters internally. Anyway you look at the situation it's bad news.

We are very concerned about infections that are possible due to the surgery and time spent in the hospital. Home is a much safer place for Jameson. Please pray that God so protects His little one, Jameson. We know and believe that He will.

We appreciate all of you.

Thank you,
Todd and Melisa

Melisa,

In the papers I gave you is the name of the pediatric surgeon (Dr. Chaet) that assisted with Sami's two spinal surgeries (he does all kinds of surgeries) I highly recommend him as he was great with her and understood EB. Also, in the bag of supplies is a small box of tape called Mepitac. That is EB Friendly tape for IV's and other things that will need to be taped down. There is Hosp. And Surgery procedures in the paperwork as well. If the hospital follows those, Jameson should be just fine.

Sami did very well being incubated and was for over 24 hours for her most recent surgery.

Also, all of Sami's surgeries have been at Florida Hosp. I am not sure Arnold Palmer has ever done surgery on an EB patient before.

Please call me tomorrow and let me know how I can help. I can come help with another bandage change if you would like. I have lots of suggestions on making his hospital stay as infection free as possible.

Sara

We continue to lift you up in prayers! We will be praying for Jameson's safety this weekend and your peace and endurance as you walk through each day. Melisa, I read Proverbs 31:17 this morning and am specifically praying it for you. It says, "She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks." May you be strengthened today for the tasks God has set in front of you! I love you all so much.

Ping Man and family,
Former Jovita Champ and 5th place finisher in Big Ten's here.
Tough typing thru the tears.
Not sure why but for some strange reason, even when I lived in Atlanta, I would seem to run into Todd every so often.
I met Todd back in the mid 90's outside Atlanta at tour q-ing. No, I was only watching.
Todd and I met yet again at tour q-ing maybe a year or two later, this time at Greenlefe. He was cddying this time, and I was watching, again.
Now that I live in FL I run into Todd throughout Central FL @ various golf stores/shops like GolfEtc in New TPA, T&D and Edwin Watts in Plam Harbor, Tampa and Orlando. Whenever I ask the stores who's their favorite/best rep, the answer is always the same "Todd Setsma".
Todd, I look forward to eventually meeting Melisa, whom I remember you talking about on the range @ Greenlefe that day (tennis player/pro, right?), your 3 strappin', preppy and golfin' boys (just like their father)!
As a father of 2 beautiful girls I'm not sure if any man will ever be good enough in my eyes for them. However, if Nicholas, Zachary and Jameson are anything like their father, I'd be proud to give them away to anyone of them.
All of my/our best. You are in our thoughts and prayers!

Todd and Melissa, So sorry to hear about the set back. I know the roller coaster of the last few weeks must leave you exhausted at the end of each and every day. J,Z and N are so lucky to have such loving parents and you are doing a great job. I pray you will have strength for each day to accomplish what you need to and what God has in store for you.

I know He has a huge purpose for Jameson and all of the Setsma family. You are such an inspiration to so many who are watching you walk through this with grace and sole dependence on God.

We love ya,
Matt and Kathleen

Todd and Melisa,

Remember to fix your eyes on Him. When God leads you to a cliff you can be sure one of two things will happen; you will either fall and He will catch you or He will teach you how to fly! We are hear to walk with you through this every step of the way.

Much love,
Mike and Lori

Dear Setsma Family,

Blessings to you all! We are friends of Mark and Tania and have learned so much about you through them and our small group at their home on Wednesday nights. We wanted to send you a quick note to let you know that prayers for Jameson are being carried throughout our family and friends as well. We pray for him constantly and want you to know how much admiration we hold for you during this extremely difficult time. We truly admire your love and commitment to God and his grace. We wanted to pass on our heartfelt prayers to all of you.

Today in my Sunday School Class..I work in the girls and boys (3rd -
5th)... we talked about Peter, when he was in prison and how the believers were praying for his deliverence. We talked to them about how sometimes we don't realy expect much when we ask God for something but we shouldn't be surprised when God answers our prayers. I could not get your family off of my mind and I might add that a room full of 3rd - 5th (and mine being one) needed my full attention. I lifted up little Jameson and your family during our prayer request time. I pray that God will give you the strength, endurance and the must needed rest that all new parents need. I will leave you with the bible verse from our lesson today... James 5:16
The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
I am praying that Monday will go well and God will keep Jameson safe. I love you!!!

My mom sends her love and prayers.

Mark and Melissa,

I am Lori Haight's sister who lives in Alabama. I wanted you to know many people in my church are lifting up Jameson and your entire family in prayer. I also shared little Jameson with our 1st through 5th graders today in our Kids Worship Theatre. What a precious sight to see....over 100 children on their knees asking Jesus to perform a miracle in Baby Jameson's life.

May God be your peace and hope.
Remember, He always hears us when we call!

In His Love,

Angela Waite

Sweet Friends: We continue to pray for all of you. Jack especially, never fails to pray for Jameson's big brothers -- that they will not be afraid, that they will be good to their new baby and that they will know God loves them. After reading about your tough day, my prayer today is that you will know "I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you." Is. 41:13. We love you all and pray that God will be your exact portion today.

Leigh and I were terribly saddened to hear of baby Jameson's challenges. We just found out on Friday that we are expecting our first little miracle in Feb. I can only imagine your journey. I know that God will bestow upon you and the boys hope and faith. Our heavenly father works in mysterious ways but will always stay true to his word. Please give little Jameson a kiss for us as I know he can feel the love you have for him. We will pray for you often.

Hello. Just wanted to let you know the girls at Winnie are still asking about you and how things are going. I let them know what I have read here and tell thim about Jameson's site.
I was sad to see your news today. I pray that Jameson is able to have his surgery soon and that all goes well. Whereever you decide to have it done, remember your tape and that you are his #1 advocate! On a brighter note I love the pictures of Jameson with his big brothers that was taken at Winnie! I truely feel that Jameson is blessed to have you for parents, and that he was chosen just for you. God bless, Tracy RN
